The Yoga Fundamentals Collection are a series of ongoing immersions that break down the yoga practice so as to simplify the understanding of how the body works.

PART 1 - Revolution: Hips, Pelvis and Lower Spine
May 29 & 31
Each evening - 18:30-20:30

The hip joint, pelvis and lower spine are of the most significant and versatile joint complexes in the body. As most people are either sitting or standing for the greater part of each day, these areas become tense decreasing the range of movement rapidly with age. Hip opening and forward bending yoga postures address the full range of movement which also aids in the release of muscle tension and stress in the spine, shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees and ankles. This focus additionally promotes healthy posture, relieves low back tension, supports reproductive health, immune and digestive systems. A series of poses will be repeatedly practiced with particular emphasis on the breathing to promote release without force.

PART 2 - Healthy Spine, Healthy Life: Backbends and Twists
June 9 - 08:30-10:30
June 10 - 18:30-20:30

A healthy spine is key to balancing physical and psychological well being. Backbends and twists combat anxiety and depression, energize our systems, and most importantly enhance the way in which the nervous system and brain function. Patrick will introduce the importance of utilizing the entire body so as to approach these posture groups in the safest way possible. Learn to stabilize the shoulder girdle, legs and pelvis to liberate the spine while keeping the belly and breath soft to promote “release”, rather than “over exersion”.
