SUMMARY:Chris Kummer: Anatomy & Physiology Workshops
DESCRIPTION:Share this:CET (Continuing Education and Training Program) \nThis workshop is accredited for YJCET\, and Yoga Alliance CET (continuing education) to maintain YogaJaya Accreditation and Yoga Alliance registration status. \nmore info on CET programs….. \nStrength and Stability in the Lower Body\n July 16\, 18:45-21:15 \nLearn how to use lower body muscles intelligently for increased balance and stability in all postures. \nThis workshop focuses on the practical integration of the major supporting muscles of the legs and hips in yoga practice. We address the issue of stability vs mobility of the sacro-iliac joint and hips. Through the exploration of common standing poses we identify and experiment with different options to create freedom of movement\, while maintaining necessary stability and support to prevent injury. This workshop combines asana practice with anatomically based discussions and explanations. Bring your legs and hips\, along with a curiosity for yoga and the body. \nNeck\, Shoulders and the World Upside Down\n July 18\, 18:45-21:15 \nThis workshop explores the anatomy of the neck and shoulders\, particularly the requirements and preparations for a safe and supported inversions. \nThrough a combination of yoga poses\, exercises and anatomical explorations\, we will explore a deeper understanding and practical abilities to use our body’s upper structures. \nFor example\, headstand is one of the classical poses practiced by hatha yogins for over seven hundred years. Still today\, it requires a good understanding and control of the body\, when we reverse our position to gravity and the horizon. \nWe look at the different levels of tissues\, biomechanical support structures\, safety and preparations for a more successful approach to inverted balances along with access to its benefits. Ease\, lightness and gracefulness can be achieved in headstand when learning and practicing a few simple principles. \nThis workshop is suitable for beginners to develop a strong foundation. For more experienced students\, learn to build up and refine your alignment for easy longer holds and more advanced inverted balances.
