SUMMARY:Edward Clark: Vinyasa Yoga Teachers Immersion
DESCRIPTION:Share this:CET (Continuing Education and Training Program) \nThis immersion is accredited for YJCET\, and Yoga Alliance CET (continuing education) to maintain YogaJaya Accreditation and Yoga Alliance registration status. \nmore info on CET programs….. \nThis Teacher Immersion will endeavor to articulate the philosophical stance and rationale for Vinyasa Yoga. Briefly put\, it will examine why evenness of breath and evenness of movement are used to bring about evenness of mind. \nModule 1: Principles and Assists In Vinyasa Practice\n June 20th 13:00-16:00 \nThis session will practically study the use of breath in Sun Salutations and what the teacher’s role and techniques are in giving assists during flowing sequences. Teaching a vinyasa class presents a set of challenges for the teacher that differs from what occurs in an asana based class. If the teacher pursues the presentation of a class that strictly adheres to the notion of ongoing flowing movement for the students\, they have to be particularly sharp in their observational skills. \nThis first session will consider: \n\nThe muscularity of Ujjayi Breathing and how to teach it (abdominals\, back\, chest)\nHow the Ujjayi Breath is used to move the body\nHow to give assists to moving (as opposed to static) bodies\nUjjayi Breath in static postures\n\nModule 2: Teaching Inversions\n June 22nd 13:00-16:00 \nThere are numerous methodologies for teaching inversions. This session will examine a number of these that range from those appropriate for beginners through advanced students. \nIn many respects\, the most important aspect of inversions is the training of the mind to co-ordinate with the body. Inversions\, perhaps more than any other kind of work in yoga\, bring out a tendency to rush. Yet\, it is the methodical application of technique that brings success in achieving these postures. \nThis second session will consider: \n\nHeadstands for beginners\nLeg variations in inversions\nForearm balances\nHandstands\nVinyasa in inversions
