SUMMARY:Mark Shveima: Bhagavad Gita Workshop & Class Series
DESCRIPTION:Share this:The Bhagavad Gita is the most beloved philosophical treatise in India. In 18 short chapters\, it offers guidance on such weighty topics as dharma and karma\, as well as the yogas of bhakti\, jnana\, and raja. \nClass Series\n August 12-16\, 09:15-10:45 \nIn this five-part class series\, we will engage in a contemplative hatha yoga practice. Each class sequence will have as its foundation one of the verses from the Bhagavad Gita. The verse will be introduced at the outset of the class\, along with an interpretation and contemplation offered about that verse. We will then engage in a practice consisting of some or all of the following: asana\, pranayama\, bandha\, mudra\, mantra\, and meditation. Each hatha yoga sequence will be tailored to maximize the physical and psychological exploration of that day`s verse. \nThe verse for each session will be sent to each participant prior to the start of the series. \nThis intensive is open to all levels of practitioners. No previous Bhagavad Gita experience is required. \nWorkshop Series\n August 12-15\, 13:00-16:30 \nIn this four-part workshop series\, we will explore these topics through discussion\, contemplation\, and the hatha yoga practice. Each session will begin with an hour and a half lecture\, followed by a 1.5 hour practice consisting of some or all of the following: asana\, pranayama\, bandha\, mudra\, mantra\, and meditation. Each hatha yoga practice will be sequenced to maximize the physical and psychological exploration of that day`s topic. The last half hour will be a Q&A session related to the topic discussed and practiced. \nAugust 12: Dharma\nAugust 13: Karma\nAugust 14: Jnana & Raja\nAugust 15: Bhakti \nThis intensive is open to all levels of practitioners. No previous Bhagavad Gita experience is required. \nEach session will be taught in English with Japanese translation.
