This winter, "en-lighten" your body, mind and spirit with the Gayatri Yoga practice. This seven week course will combine mantric sound, asana, mudradfs, and meditation with the effects of a deep and profound prayer. Practiced together or separately, the elements of this course will be with you for a lifetime.

Course Curriculum

In this seven week course you will progressively deepen your knowledge of the following practices:

  • The Gayatri Mantra; its meter and its meaning. The Gayatri Mantra, a famous verse from the Rig Veda, is considered a universal mystic formula. When chanted with sincerity, it can improve thinking and judgment, give better control over anxieties and emotions, cultivate determination and self-esteem, inner peace and prosperity. It's beautiful rhythmic pattern, soothing ancient sound and powerful intent make the Gayatri Mantra a magnificent part of daily life.
  • Surya Namaskar, the Sun Salutation, is a series of postures performed in a single, graceful flow. Surya namaskar is a way of acknowledging the Divine via its largest and most visible manifestation - the sun. It is considered the mother of all yoga postures and the foundation of any hatha yoga practice.
  • Mudras, the science of hand and finger postures, help balance the five elements in the body. Every word in the Gayatri Mantra has a corresponding mudra. When practiced together, a simple yet powerful practice emerges.
  • Japamala meditation, is the practice of chanting a mantra while fingering a mala made of 108 beads. Japamala has been used as a meditative aid by practitioners from many disciplines for thousands of years and is a form of Bhakti Yoga.

Whether you are a beginner or an advanced practitioner of yoga, this course will provide the tools necessary to build a practice of devotion to the light within. "Let us meditate on the light of the sun (which represents God), and may our thoughts be inspired by that divine light."
