Lisa Lawton: Zen Thai Shiatsu Workshop: Bringing yoga and Bodywork together
Learn to give and receive simple and effective bodywork to enhance your personal yoga practice, your health and the health of others around you.
This workshop is based on the inspirational style of bodywork, ‘Zen Thai Shiatsu’ － bringing freedom to the structural and energetic body through focussed intention and loving kindness (meta). Zen Thai Shiatsu is a blend of techniques, drawing on the arts of Yoga, Zen Shiatsu, Traditional Thai Massage and Osteopathy.
Based on Oriental Medicine and the five element theory, each module has particular areas of the body to be focussed on, using asana and massage techniques to release physical tension and stagnant energy that is held in the body.
Module 1: Legs and Feet
－ Saturday December 6: 08:00-10:00
Releasing tension from our legs and feet that hold and carry us all day. Focussing on the Spleen and Kidney meridians you will learn techniques to create a strong foundation (earth element) therefore enabling you to release fear and have the will to move forward (Water element).
Module 2: Hips & Lower back
－ Sunday December 7: 08:00-10:00
Working on stagnant energy that resides in the hips and lower back. Focussing on Gall Bladder (Wood element), cultivating strength in clarity to help re-define the power of decision making to build confidence.
Module 3 － Back (spine)
－ Saturday December 13: 08:00-10:00
Working with the back of the body through asana practice freeing the spine from tension. Then learn to give and receive effective bodywork techniques that focus on feeling what is full (excess) and what is empty (deficient), working with the back-shu points that run on both sides of the spine.
Module 4 － Shoulders and Neck
－ Sunday December 14: 08:00-10:00
People can carry the weight of the world on our shoulders. This workshop encourages us to turn back, inward, toward our source, our heart, our breath. Working with the heart and lung meridians, learning to bring freedom to the shoulder and neck area.
