Mark Shveima: Class Series: Moving Into Wholeness

The hatha yoga practice is a tool that can be used to nourish and support us through the various life challenges we face. When hatha yoga is used for this purpose, we begin to generate an increased quality of wholeness in our body-mind consciousness. When we experience this wholeness, our consciousness naturally settles into stillness. In that stillness, our entire body-mind consciousness is deeply nourished.
In this five-part class series, we will approach this concept of generating wholeness from several different vantage points.
Pranayama will be taught in each session. Each session will end with a cool down sequence of twists and forward bends. All levels of ability are welcome!
Class 1: Listening
August 13th, 08:30-10:00
You will learn how to use the breath, movement, and repose to generate a more profound awareness of the entire body-mind consciousness. The core of this practice will be the surya namaskara, with several mini-sequences structured within this core sequence.
Class 2: Integration
August 14th, 08:30-10:00
You will learn how to maximize the use of the muscles without over-efforting. You will also learn how to stabilize the joints of the legs and arms, and integrate the muscles as a whole from the the periphery of the body to the central axis of the spine. Standing poses and balances will be our focus.
Class 3: Rooting
August 15th, 08:30-10:00
You will learn how to use active expansion to create a dynamic foundation from which you may grow your unique expression of whatever form you create. Standing poses and backbends will be our focus.
Class 4: Opening
August 16th, 08:30-10:00
You will learn how to efficiently release habitual tension in the pelvic area, and then actively ground the energetic body. Standing poses and hip openers will be our focus.
Class 5: Settling
August 17th, 08:30-10:00
You will learn how to use breath and awareness to elicit progressively deeper levels of relaxation in the body-mind consciousness. Hip-openers, twists, and forward bends will be our focus.
