In 2000 Kimi began studying traditional hatha yoga, kriya’s, pranayama and meditation with Shachikumar Sharma in Rishkesh, Northern India. Shachikumar Sharma trained in traditional hatha yoga and tantra yoga in the Himalayas and also was a chief instructor at the Yoga Vedanta Forest Academy of Divine Society (Shivananda Ashram) and Yoga Niketan.
In 2001 she began studying ashtanga yoga with Sri. K. Pattabi Jois at a workshop in New York City. She continued her ashtanga studies at IYC in Tokyo. She also makes regular trips to New York City to study vinyasa yoga.
Kimi also regularly attends vipassana meditation retreats.
In 2005 she completed the Vivekananda Yoga Kendra foundation yoga teacher training certificated by the Science Technical Ministry of India. She also completed the IYC teacher training, and Nancy Gilgoff’s teacher’s clinic. She has also studied vinyasa yoga with Louisa Sear.
Kimi is an active member of the Japan Yoga Therapy Society, supporting research on the benefits of yoga for the body and mind.
Kimi is an avid mountain climber, and often treks in the northern Japanese Alps. She is also a Butoh dancer, taking part in performances and film productions, integrating her experience with yoga and meditation as an inspirational guide.
Kimi teaches a blend of traditional hatha yoga encompassing pranayama and meditation to offer deeper insights into the practice.
