
AcroYoga Therapeutics Course with Adi Carter
AcroYoga blends the spiritual wisdom of yoga, the loving kindness of Thai massage, and the dynamic power of Acrobatics. These three ancient lineages form the foundation of a unique new practice that cultivates trust, connection and playfulness. This course with focus on using core awareness to help practitioners balance on each other and take flight to truly experience the joy of being inverted and in supported back bends without the effort and struggle of trying to hold yourself up.

Course Curriculum:
Week 1:
● Warm up: circle flow / partner flow - alignment emphasis
● Flying:
- Introduction to bone stacking principles and balancing techniques
- Plank test / tightness drill
- Knees on Back in pairs and foursomes, mirroring game
- If extra time… arm balancing (bakkhasana / titibasana / mayurasana) on child’s pose
● Thai massage: child’s pose traction, shoulder presses & sub scapula work (motorcycle)
● Closing circle
Week 2:
● Warm up: circle flow / partner flow - core emphasis
● Flying:
- Introduction to core tightness & bone stacking
- Shoulder stand tightness drill
- Plank on plank and lifted leg variations
- If extra time…Jedi box
● Thai massage: shoulder, arm, wrist and hand massage & traction
● Closing circle
Week 3:
● Warm up: circle flow / partner flow - leg emphasis
● Flying:
- Introduction to legs at 90 & bone stacking for forward flying
- Plank tightness drill with trying to separate the legs
- Forward flying- lifted baddhakonasa to folded leaf
- If extra time… bird / dhanurasana
● Thai massage: leg love
● Closing circle
Week 4:
● Warm up: circle flow / partner flow - twist emphasis
● Flying:
- Review of forward flying
- Forward flying- review: lifted baddhakonasa to folded leaf
- Introduction to easy twist, super yogi, bird
- If extra time…bat / walnut
● Thai massage: leg love
● Closing circle
Week 5:
● Warm up: circle flow / partner flow - introduction to inversions [focus on spotting techniques]
● Flying:
- Tripod headstand- leg circles / leg lifts with spotter
- Shoulder stand on thighs & beach
- If extra time…forearm stand counter balance / handstand counter balance
● Thai massage: back love
● Closing circle
Week 6:
● Warm up: circle flow / partner flow - backbend emphasis [focus on spotting techniques]
● Flying:
- Down dog bridge (with spotter) / leg lift variations
- Back flying:dhanurasana / back leaf (glute presses)
- If extra time…natarajasana
● Thai massage: leg love / twist massage
● Closing circle
Week 7:
● Warm up: circle flow / partner flow - push up conditioning emphasis
● Flying:
- Forward flying bird push ups / free bird & dhanurasana variations
- High flying whale with foot rocks /cross to step off
- If extra time…ustrasana, navasana
● Thai massage: double traction massage legs & arms from flyer and spotter
● Closing circle
Week 8:
● Warm up: circle flow / partner flow - straddle conditioning - straddle press to handstand (using blocks and spotters)
● Flying:
- Back flying to straddle bat transition
- In bat- occipital press, shoulder presses floating Paschimottanasana out
- If extra time…floating Paschimottanasana back to back flying
● Thai massage:head and neck focus, temple massage
● Closing circle
Week 9:
● Warm up: circle flow / partner flow - leg focus (inner spiral- wrapping the legs)
● Flying:
- Step to throne
- Throne to titibasana, step and hopping variation
- If extra time…transition to bird
● Thai massage:rocking horse with leg love
● Closing circle
Week 10:
● Warm up: circle flow / partner flow - inversion emphasis, review of tightness drills (plank, shoulderstand), handstand tune ups
● Flying:
- Bird to candlestick
- Slow, stag leg variation & full candlestick
- If extra time… free hand candle stick with double stag legs
● Thai massage:seated- wrist, hand & shoulder love

Week 11:
● Warm up: circle flow / partner flow - standing pose and utkatasana focus with emphasis on feet and foot placement
● Flying:
- Counter balances
- Standing on thighs with table top mount facing towards and away from the base, forward folding and flag variations
- If extra time…low two high with base seated
● Thai massage:restorative partner flows back to back
● Closing circle
Week 12:
● Warm up: circle flow / partner flow
● Flying:
- Pyramids
- Open jam session for people to practice what they’ve learned during the course as well as try out new things

● Thai massage: bodywork and dessert- everyone will bring a dessert/snack to share and we will finish with group body work celebrating all forms of Meta- or loving touch
