YogaSynergy is powerful dynamic traditional hatha yoga that is designed in sequence and form with an understanding from medical science and physiotherapy. The YogaSynergy sequences progresses students from simple (easy) to complex (hard) versions of each asana (static posture) and vinyasa (dynamic exercise) to develop a balance between your strength, flexibility and cardiovascular fitness. At the same time each sequence encourages your ability to stay relaxed and allow subtle energy to flow within you. Simon uses the Synergy style and his experience as physiotherapist and advanced yoga practitioner to guide you as to what you need to be able to do before safely progressing from a beginner to an advanced level in each exercise. Simon’s unique method of teaching is effective yet safe as it only allows people to progress to a harder version of a posture when their levels of strength and flexibility are balanced.
These workshops are highly recommended for yoga practitioners and yoga teachers of styles of hatha yoga including Iyengar yoga and Ashtanga vinyasa yoga. The YogaSynergy sequences presented here contain all the postures of the Ashtanga vinyasa series, the postures in Mr Iyengar’s Light on Yoga plus many more unique or rarely taught postures that can have a profound effect on the body.

Simon Borg-Olivier is co-author of "Applied Anatomy & Physiology of Yoga".

Module1- All level
Friday 19:00-21:30

Synergy Style Earth Sequence: In this workshop Simon will teach the YogaSynergy Earth sequence. The Earth Sequence can be very beneficial for promoting a balance between strength, flexibility and stability in the joints while allowing a flow of energy and consciousness to connect the body and mind in grounding and balanced way.

Workshop focus: The focus of this workshop will be on 9 important 'stretches' of nerves and acupuncture meridians which leave you energised and focused. These rarely taught mudras are also useful tools for relieving many problems of the neck, lower back, hips and shoulders.

Module2- All level
Saturday morning 9:00-12:00

Synergy Style Water Sequence: In this workshop Simon will teach the YogaSynergy Water sequence. Although powerful, this sequence is particularly able to guide the practitioner to only do what is safe for them and by virtue of its structure will not allow a person to ‘bend’ any part of their body more than their current level of strength allows. The Water Sequence can be very good at balancing strength and flexibility while generating energy fields within and outside the body. This can help to instruct the intelligence of each cell so that every part of the body can be reached for nourishment, healing and energising.

Workshop focus: The focus of this workshop will be on 9 main bandhas (internal locks) that can help move prana (energy) and citta (consciousness) through the nadis (pathways) of the body while stabilising your joints.

Module3- All level
Saturday afternoon 14:00-17:00

Synergy Style Fire Sequence: In this workshop Simon will teach the YogaSynergy Fire sequence, which is a very effective practice for toning and mobilising joints, muscles, nerves and acupuncture meridians. When practiced appropriately the fire sequence leaves you feeling strong, supple and energised, and helps bring you to a profound state of blissful, yet clear, meditative space.

Workshop focus: The focus of this workshop will be on three important reflexes, which help you relieve pain and to safely practice yoga while enhancing strength, flexibility and relaxation.

Module 4- Adavnced practitioners and teachers clinic
Sunday all day (6 Hours with a 2 hour lunch break) 9:00 -17:00

Synergy Style Air Sequence: This workshop is designed for more experienced students and teachers of all styles of hatha yoga including Ashtanga vinyasa yoga. In this workshop Simon will teach the YogaSynergy Air sequence, using it to develop your practice while preventing and healing injuries. When performed at your appropriate level the Air Sequence is a very effective practice that leaves you feeling light, strong and energised, and helps bring you to a profound state of blissful, yet clear, meditation.

Workshop focus: The focus of this workshop will be on creating a safe effective yoga practice that can prevent or heal injuries or medical conditions. You will be shown how to use nerve reflexes to relieve pain while enhancing strength, flexibility and relaxation. You will be shown how to use 9 mudras (stretches of nerves and acupuncture meridians) and 9 bandhas (core stabilisation of the ankles, knees, hips, waist, chest, neck, shoulders, elbows and wrists) to help you to safely practice yoga while activating your chakras (energy centres).
