[CANCELLED] Clive Sheridan: Japan Workshop & Retreat
The specific content of these sessions is not specified due to the spontaneous style of teaching Clive is renown for worldwide. All sessions are inspired by the true essence and spirit of non-regimented advaita and tantra yoga sadhana.
All of the daily sessions Clive will conduct in Japan during the Mountain retreat and weekend workshop will start with a meditation practice and pranayama class followed by an asana class. In each afternoon session, Clive will give a discourse on the inner teachings of yoga, followed by a second asana class and finishing the day with pranayama.

Come learn some new takes on your usual yoga practice. These two all-level workshops take a few simple principles and apply them in multiple ways to get new results out of the usual postures so you can experience feather-weight inversions, a comfortably bendy spine, and ecstatic rushes of energy. Flying cat-yoga describes a synthesis approach to yoga that Adrian uses in whatever he teaches. Adrian derives these elements from Vinyasa Yoga, Scaravelli Yoga, and NLP.

Creative Improvisation: Investigate the Inner Landscape… Course with Elana Katz
Improvisation is a spontaneous response to one’s immediate environment and inner feelings. This course will explore how awareness of the present can stimulate creative improvisation without boundaries. Students will work with the body and voice as tools of improvisational expression, and also explore interaction with improvisational music. The class will be joined as well by guest musical artist Martha Strongin Katz.

Expanding the Visual Field: Open Eye Meditation Course with Elana Katz
This course will explore techniques of open eye meditation, the calming therapeutic effect of bringing meditation into a visual practice -- deepening, softening, and challenging one’s visual experience. Over the course of nine weeks, participants will be asked to leave the comfort zone of meditation in a contained space, bringing various forms of stimulation and interaction to the meditative practice.

Patrick Oancia: LSD (Long, Slow and Deep) All Level Immersion
This all-level immersion focuses on holding postures for longer periods to raise sensitivity in body awareness. Each session will include a steady balance of different pose groups, combining restorative and dynamic practice with and without props. Students will be encouraged to work with subtle abdominal breathing to draw more from the “relaxed internal power” potential to release any unnecessary tension in the practice.

Dave Dobson: Deepening Your Understanding of Yoga through Ayurveda, Diet & Nutrition, and Self-Inquiry
With our lives becoming increasingly busy and complicated, it is easy for our minds and bodies to get out of balance, creating disturbances on all levels of life. To be able to live healthy and rewarding lives, we therefore need to recognize our personal needs on all levels: physical, mental, emotional, relational and spiritual.
By understanding ourselves better, who we are and how life works, we can find personal balance and take a path of constructive development by making the appropriate choices, saying the appropriate things, and responding to life’s challenges in ways that result in positive outcomes.
Dave will be drawing on Ayurvedic principles interpreted in a contemporary way, as well as nutrition, psychology, and communication ethics to help workshop participants understand how to achieve personal balance and improve the quality of their lives and relationships.

Tripsichore's Artistic Director, Edward Clark will share some of the secrets of their technique at this Tokyo workshop. Sequestered in their studio in London, the company has worked daily for the past 15 years to devise and refine yoga techniques of asana, pranayama, pratayahara, dharana, and dhyana making excursions out to perform their creations to audiences worldwide. Until now, their techniques have only been taught to a very few.

This all level Immersion focuses a flowing yoga practice observing sensations in the body and mind with new perspectives each session. Telling her story in words accompanied by videos and still images of her exploits, Steph describes her experiences free climbing and base-jumping desert towers in the Utah desert. Patrick Oancia has been teaching yoga internationally for more than a decade with a passion and focus on expanding the application of yoga beyond the mat and into everyday life. Patrick’s personal interest is in constantly developing his potential for expanding his teaching knowledge based on in-depth study of diverse teaching styles and effective ways of promoting meaningful feedback. Throughout the years of training teachers, he has been constantly developing his own style through his study of teaching platforms in various educational environments.
Immersion in this course is intended to explore different theories on conveying knowledge, borrowing ideas from existing learning platforms not directly related to yoga, but linked to the assimilation of information for the purpose of reaching a more diverse yoga student base.

Simon Borg-Olivier: Awakening The Chakras
In this morning class followed by a workshop, you will learn wave-like movements of the spine, that, when moved one vertebra at a time, can help in the generation of energy and the transmission of power through the channels of the body. This process also establishes a type of ‘core stabilization’ that is both firm but calm, or ‘sthira sukham asanam’, as described in the yoga sutras of Patanjali.
