Hridaya means “heart”. Bindu is a point in time and space. Mark will offer a two-day exploration of the concept of the balancing point of the heart in the yoga practice.
Mark will teach you alignment principles from the Anusara Yoga tradition. These principles will be presented in an intelligent, sequential way to increase your understanding of how to maximize your strength and flexibility, and find the center point of any balance. This understanding will bring greater focus to the mind. With that focus you can begin to penetrate your emotional center, and experience equanimity even in the face of challenges that may arise, both on and off your mat.

Exploring Expression & Creativity through Movement Course with Satoko Horie
When healthy, we take little notice of our bodies. Yet the state of the body determines the physical form of who we are and how we present ourselves. The body is the first thing by which others recognize us, and it is central to the way that people define the ‘self’ and personal individuality. Through growth and education, we gradually cultivate behavior patterns and responses tied to emotions that are also interconnected with our body. We continuously reinforce our sense of ‘self’ through a mainly unconscious process of self-observation and self-adjustment. In this course, we aim to raise our own awareness through body movement, gradually finding how to express through movements and expressions that ignite our inner creativity.

This rejuvenating practice will elicit your body’s natural healing response to repair and balance areas of focus. It might be described as “taking your acupuncturist with you to yoga!”

Dave Dobson: Moving Forward: Tools for Transformation
Most of us operate on autopilot, employing old habits in the hope that we will achieve the change that has been eluding us. The truth is, if we aren’t getting what we want out of life, be that personal health, a rewarding job, or meaningful relationships, then something has to change. By understanding how life works, we can take a path of constructive development by making the right choices, saying the right things, and responding to life’s challenges in a way that results in positive outcomes, instead of painful experiences.
Dave will be drawing on Ayurvedic principles interpreted in a contemporary way, as well as nutrition, psychology, and communication ethics to provide participants with practical tools they can use to improve the quality of their lives.
These workshops will be open to all. Modules 3 and 4 will develop and extend areas covered by Dave in the YogaJaya teacher training program, so if you are a YogaJaya teacher training graduate who enjoyed Dave’s classes, there will be something here for you also.

Hatha Yoga: A Complete Practice – Workshop with Jason Birch
Many styles of Modern Yoga tend to emphasise one auxiliary (anga) of practice. Some focus on asanas, others, meditation. This workshop aims to demonstrate that one can combine cleansing practices, asanas, pranayama and meditation to enjoy a broad range of benefits and to gain a greater ability to vary and adapt the practice according to one's needs. By practising a broad range of techniques in a particular sequence, students will see how all the auxiliaries fit together and how each one is essential for the others.

Jason Birch & Jacqueline Hargreaves: Morning Practice Immersion
The essence of Yoga is daily practice, and a morning practice sets the tone for the rest of the day. Yet, it takes some understanding and skill to develop a practice that leaves one feeling refreshed, with the mind, calm and clear, for the day ahead.
The morning practice immersions will focus on cleansing and breathing techniques that generate heat with minimal effort, and then a sequence of asanas that facilitates the practice of Uddiyana bandha (gently drawing the abdomen in and up). The aim will be to avoid over-exertion while enjoying the invigorating effects of these practices. Each student shall be encouraged to work with variations and different sequences so that they might discover their own, most effective way of practicing.

Healing through Yoga & Thai Massage Course with Gweon Jung Eun
Meridians are channels through which qi energy flows to nourish and energize the body. They form a matrix within which the physical body functions. They also act as a network of communication between the physical and the more subtle energetic character of the body. The meridian healing system is based on the premise that an insufficient supply of qi makes one vulnerable to disease. Restoring qi is the ultimate goal on the road to restoring overall health and wellness. In this course, we heal our bodies by stimulating the meridian system through Yoga and Thai massage.

Exploring the Chakras Course with Lea Sölter: A journey through the energy centres along the spine
Prana energy flows through our body via the Nadis, or energy channels, and is accumulated in and distributed by the Chakras, or energy centers. There are seven main Chakras along the spine, each of which has unique characteristics. It is in the Chakras that Prana takes on specific forms to serve particular purposes for a balanced state of mind and body. A free flow of Prana in and through the Chakras is essential to staying in balance and to increase vitality.
This 8-week course explains the functioning of the energy centers along the spine, teaches students how to recognize blockages in the Chakras, and instructs them how to stimulate a free flow of energy, as well as how to use Chakras to deal with everyday challenges.

Practice of Pranayama & Meditation Course with Yumiko Terasaki
Pranayama breathing refers to controlling the vital energy that fills the human body. Pranayama is a critical process of purification needed for deeper meditation toward the goal of Raja Yoga -- the control of the heart.
Acquiring and then developing this skill requires a routine of practice and perseverance while maintaining calmness. This process is facilitated by building our trust in each other and by sharing experiences over a course period of up to 18 weeks. The course theme is “harmony”. Through Pranayama and Meditation, we seek to generate a harmony that resonates between the body and the mind, within and between people, and between each individual and the broader universe.
